Suit Up with Gieves and Hawkes this Autumn...

I think Gieves and Hawkes are as synonymous with Savile Row as you can possibly get and being situated at No. 1 is a rather enviable place to be.  Having been a big fan of the brand for a number of years my appreciation for the brand was heightened earlier this summer when I attended the ‘Savile Row open house showcase’ – a tour around No.1 was a treat for sure learning about the heritage and watching the art of a Bespoke suit being made right before my eyes. So can the AW12 collection live up to the true beauty and grandeur of the place? Well thankfully…YES.

The collection features English made fully canvassed suits with widened lapels, a lowered notch and to my delight a raised first button.  These features pay homage to the 1960’s and more specifically the most famous tailor on the Row at the time, Tommy Nutter…who if you don’t know dressed three of the four Beatles for their album cover ‘Abbey Road’.  These suits are worn with another major feature to the AW12 collection which is bright and colourful printed ties.

Below is a selection of photos from the collection, some of my favourite pieces include the grey four button double breasted suit, the camel overcoat and my overall favourite look is saved till last…sublime!

If you’re in London definitely visit the beautiful store at No.1 Savile Row, a great and inspiring place with wonderfully friendly staff…A store for the true Gentleman!
