Menswear at Reiss Manchester and The Bespoke Gentleman's top picks...

Now you could say I’m a little biased to be blogging about Reiss, as I currently work for the company, but I love Reiss, and I believe that other ‘The Bespoke Gentleman’ readers do too.  So I have decided to post about the Reiss store in Manchester which has had a mini makeover in time for the start of the new AW11 season.

The store has seen a new carpeted area at the back of the menswear floor which is home to the tailoring section, light boxes have been fitted to showcase the visual marketing campaign and a new wall section has been fitted at the front of the store which is a really cool centre piece for customers to take visual inspiration from.

The pictures below illustrate how the store now looks…
The above photo show's the impressive new wall section.
A sartorial visual delight - You can take so much inspiration from the new wall section.

The Tailoring section, showing a visual black/white theme with light box.

Now I couldn't finish this post without showcasing my top Reiss recommendations for the new season.  So the below photo's are products that I love and believe will be key pieces for the AW11 season.  My first photo show's this beautiful mustard jumper with button detail on the shoulder.  Now I don't know about you but since looking at the photo's from the Jill Sander AW11 show, I was seeing a lot of mustard knitwear and I knew it was item of clothing I would be looking out for this season...and you can't get much better than this Reiss knitwear below, it's a true hero piece in my eyes. I have put this piece of knitwear with a pair of brown brogue boot's as I believe these boot's are a classic staple item within any gentleman's wardrobe.  The second photo is a of herringbone blazer that for me is a true staple winter piece that will look great over a roll neck jumper and finally the final photo is of a selection of shirts but my favourite one being the chambray button down collar shirt, a piece that has been key for the last couple of season's but this one is great, reminds me of the type of shirt's A.P.C and YMC make.

Now for the readers of this blog I expect you to already know lot's about Reiss but if you want to find out more about the brand then visit www.reissonline.com.

The Gentleman Reads…Fantastic Man. Issue 14. AW11

Image I - Fantastic Man. Issue 14 FC.

It’s that time of the year again when the sartorially discerned gentleman is considering or has considered what will be his style related purchases for the new season.  It is also this time of the season where an abundance of men’s biannual fashion magazines arrive on the shelves of the gentleman’s favourite magazine store to help aid in our decision making process.

Out of all these fashion titles that are currently in circulation, my favourite biannual fashion magazine for Men is ‘Fantastic Man’.   Now into its 14th issue this magazine has been around since 2005, and I hate to admit that I am rather a late comer to this magazine having only been an avid reader since issue 12.  Anyhow for  the 14th Issue of Fantastic Man it sees Mr. RAF SIMONS grace its front cover, where there is a great profile piece written by Mr. Gert Jonkers.

Now a won’t blether on about why ‘Fantastic Man’ is such a great read I will let you experience that for yourselves, but I will leave you with ‘The Bespoke Gentleman’ recommendations of pieces that I particularly enjoyed reading within this issue:

1.)  ‘Charlie Porter’s Interview with Mr. Kim Jones’ – I always enjoyed Charlie Porter’s opinions when he used to write for GQ Magazine, and he provides a great little interview here.

2.)   ‘The Seasonals’ – A great section showcasing trends for the new season, I particularly enjoyed the use of colour throughout these images.

3.) ‘The Brothers’ – An intriguing insight into Fabio and Fausto Covizzi, who are the security specialists for many of the top Italian fashion houses.

4.)   ‘Wild Flowers’ – A celebration of the buttonhole, and how a flower can add just that touch of sartorial delight.

5.) Mr. RAF SIMONS’ – For a designer I know little about, this profile from Gert Jonkers, provides a great insight into one of the phenomenon’s of the fashion world.

ELEGANT, STRONG, MASCULINE, BOLD, REFRESHING - words that sum up ‘Fantastic Man’ for me.
