Now on this ‘The Bespoke Gentleman’ blog I’ve done many a feature on what the modern gentleman should be reading for style inspiration. So to change the theme a little for this week I will be recommending what the gentleman should be watching…and therefore this post is going to be about the imminent release of the film The Rum Diary based on the book of the same name by Hunter S. Thompson.
I’ve been a huge fan of Hunter S. Thompson’s work for a long time and have been anticipating the release of this film for quite a few years, so I will be looking forward to watching this movie when it’s released on Friday. TV drama’s such as Mad Men and Boardwalk Empire have become hugely popular for their period style and have helped revitalise interest in 1940’s and 1950’s style. I believe The Rum Diary is going to follow suit with these shows and also be recognised for being a rather stylish affair and given that the film is set in 1950’s Puerto Rico and features none other than Johnny Depp and Amber Heard, I think that this is going to be a bit of a dead cert.
